DALLAS – Delaware’s Rhianna Gooneratne and Liberty’s Michael Lugiano have been named Conference USA’s Golfers of the Week.
 
CUSA Women’s Golfer of the Week – Rhianna Gooneratne, Delaware – Fr. – Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
Gooneratne earned runner-up honors with a 1-over par 218, leading Delaware to a win at its home tournament - the Lady Blue Hen Invitational. She recorded her second-straight top-10 finish, and third of the season carding back-to-back under-par rounds to climb up to second overall. The freshman finished with 13 total birdies over the 54 holes, including six during Saturday’s second round when she shot a 3-under par 69. Gooneratne closed the weekend with four more birdies and a 1-under par 71. She leads the Fightin' Blue Hens with a 72.73 stroke average after the team's 15 rounds this fall. Delaware successfully defended its title at the 2025 Lady Blue Hen Invitational, shooting an even-par 288 during the final round to move up from second and pull away for an 8-stroke victory.
 
CUSA Men’s Golfer of the Week – Michael Lugiano, Liberty – So. – Jackson Township, Pa.
Lugiano paced the Flames at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational with a fourth-place finish during Liberty’s final fall event. The sophomore led the 84-man field with 20 birdies, carding an 11-under par 205 (68-67-70) and posting three consecutive under-par rounds at the Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla. Lugiano ranked second in the field in par-3 scoring (-2/2.83 average) and was tied for fifth in par-4 scoring (-4/3.87 average). He finished just three shots off the overall individual winning score for his second career top-five finish. This was Lugiano's career-best 54-hole total, and it bested his 9-under par 207 at the Thomas Skarkey Individual Collegiate from last season where he won the individual tournament.
