DALLAS – Delaware’s Mariya Hrynashka and Middle Tennessee’s Ondrej Horak have been named Conference USA’s September Athletes of the Month.

CUSA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Month – Mariya Hrynashka, Delaware – Sr. – Rancho Cordova, Calf.
Hrynashka marked a 5-1 total record during the month of September, competing in six matches during the Villanova/UD Invite. The senior played to a 3-0 singles record and went 2-1 in doubles action. Hrynashka took singles wins against opponents from Villanova, Syracuse, and NJIT. She broke into the top 10 in program history during the event, gathering her 65th, 66th, and 67th singles wins, moving her into eighth all-time among all Blue Hens.

CUSA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Month – Ondrej Horak, MTSU – Sr. – Opava, Czech Republic
Horak displayed strong performances against Power Four competition at the ITA All-Americans, demonstrating his ability to compete effectively in both singles and doubles. In doubles, Horak and Karim Al-Amin secured two notable victories, defeating Tulsa's Connor Thomas Doig and Reiya Komagata with a score of 6-1, 6-3, followed by an upset over Notre Dame's nationally ranked No. 12 duo, Sebastian Dominko and Chase Thompson, 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 in the ITA Main Draw. In singles pre-qualifying, Horak exhibited determination and resilience, overcoming a challenging start to win against Arizona's Baran Soyler, 0-6, 6-0, 6-2.
