GOLF: October 8 Golfers of the Week

DALLAS – Western Kentucky sweeps Conference USA’s Golfers of the Week awards with Sydney Hackett and Ethan Smith earning the honors.

CUSA Women’s Golfer of the Week – Sydney Hackett, WKU – Sr. – Ashburn, Va. 
Hackett claimed a share of the individual championship at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate in Knoxville, Tenn. The senior shot a 69-68-65—202 (-11), her third round score of 65 is a career-best and tied for the third best score in WKU history. The Ashburn, Va., native's 202 (-11) for the tournament was also a career-best and is the second best 54-hole score in school history. Hackett's win was the third of her career, which now stands alone as the third most in program history by an individual player. She also finished the tournament with the most birdies (15) and the best Par 4 stroke average (3.68).

CUSA Men’s Golfer of the Week – Ethan Smith, WKU – R-Fr. – Marietta, Ga.
Smith finished tied for 14th place at the Cullan Brown Invitational in a loaded field that included individuals from multiple strong programs and CUSA foe, Kennesaw State. In a shortened tournament due to weather, Smith shot a 71 (E) in the first round and shaved off a stroke in the second with a 70 (-1) to finish with an overall score of 141 (-1).
