FB: Former Blue Raider Stars Shine in Week 12

DALLAS – Former MTSU defensive backs delivered impact performances across the NFL in Week 12, headlined by Reed Blankenship, whose interception and eight tackles helped anchor Philadelphia’s back-end in a divisional matchup.
 
Several other former Blue Raiders made their presence felt, including Charvarius Ward, who recorded a fumble recovery and pass breakup for Indianapolis in his return from IR, while Kevin Byard continued his strong play for Chicago with a six-tackle outing that included a tackle for loss.
 
Amik Robertson (LA Tech) produced seven solo tackles and a pass deflection for Detroit. Pittsburgh’s James Pierre (FAU) and San Francisco’s Upton Stout (WKU) each added a pass breakup. Seattle’s Riq Woolen (UTSA) also contributed a pass deflection in the Seahawks’ secondary effort.
 
Elsewhere on defense, Azeez Al-Shaair (FAU) delivered another active performance for Houston, finishing with seven tackles, a pass deflection, and a quarterback hit. Larry Ogunjobi (Charlotte) added two tackles and a tackle for loss for Buffalo. Rakeem Nunez-Roches (Southern Miss) registered a sack, tackle for loss and quarterback hit among his two tackles for the Giants.         Darious Williams (UAB) added three stops for the Los Angeles Rams.
 
Offensively, Cincinnati’s Mitchell Tinsley (WKU) hauled in two receptions for 29 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown. Aaron Jones (UTEP) totaled 57 scrimmage yards for Minnesota, rushing for 41 yards on nine carries and adding three receptions for 16 yards. Devin Singletary (FAU) paced the Giants’ ground game with 47 rushing yards on 14 attempts.
 
On special teams, Cairo Santos (Tulane) converted all five attempts (1 FG, 4 PAT) for seven points, including a 47-yard field goal for Chicago. Jack Fox (Rice) averaged 40 yards on five punts, with four inside the 20 and a long of 46 yards. The Giants’ average starting field position on his five kicks was their own nine-yard line.
