MBB: Liberty Punches Title Ticket in 81-79 Comeback Win Over Kennesaw State

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Top-seeded Liberty (27-6, 13-5 CUSA) advances to the title game after a come-from-behind victory over No. 4 Kennesaw State (19-14, 10-8 CUSA) 81-79 in the semifinal round of the 2025 CUSA Championship Friday afternoon at Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center.
 
After trailing by as much as 14 points in the first half, Kaden Metheny rallied the Flames with 16 points and five made triples in the second half. The redshirt senior guard finished with 24 points, seven three-pointers, three boards and two assists.
 
This win marks Liberty’s fifth consecutive game scoring 80 or more points. The last time the Flames reached this feat was in February of 1997. Liberty will play in their first CUSA title game since joining the league.
 
Liberty is set to face off with the winner of the No. 2 Jax State and No. 3 MTSU matchup on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network.
