TEN: April 15 Athletes of the Week

DALLAS – Jacksonville State’s Marko Milosavljevic, and Liberty’s Joaquim Almeida and Siwanat Auytayakul earned the final Conference USA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors. WKU’s Rachel Hermanova, and LA Tech’s Ana Rodrigues and Zoie Epps picked up the last CUSA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.   
    
CUSA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Marko Milosavljevic, Jax State – So. – Vosendorf, Austria
Milosavljevic claims the final Athlete of the Week honor of the season after a perfect week in the No. 3 position for the Gamecocks. The sophomore defeated Kennesaw State’s Kyvan Rietkerk 6-0, 7-5 on Friday to clinch the victory for Jax State. On Saturday, the Vosendorf, Austria, native took down UAB’s Ondrej Valek 7-6, 6-1 to clinch the second straight match on the week. Milosavljevic’s two clinching wins helped the Gamecocks finish the regular season on a six-match winning streak.
 
CUSA Men’s Doubles Team of the Week
Joaquim Almeida, Liberty – Sr. – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Siwanat Auytayakul, Liberty – Fr. – Bangkok, Thailand
 
The duo of Almeida and Auytayakul earned a 2-0 week on court No. 1 doubles with wins over Delaware and VCU. In their victory over Delaware, the pair defeated Piotr Siekanowicz and Eua Mackenzie 6-4. In their final match of the season, the Liberty partners bested VCU’s German Samofalov and Kostiantyn Mantach 6-2. The duo is currently ranked No. 67 in ITA doubles and own a 10-4 record together this spring.
 
CUSA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Rachel Hermanova, WKU – Sr. – Pardubice, Czech Republic
Hermanova picked up a pair of wins to close out the regular season last week. The senior from Pardubice, Czech Republic, bounced back from a loss at MTSU on Tuesday with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Campbellsville’s Oriana Espinoza on Wednesday and a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Alabama A&M’s Alicia Owegi on Thursday, all from the No. 1 position. Hermanova wrapped up the regular season with a 13-7 record from the No. 1 spot. She now has 62 career singles wins, which is a program record.
 
CUSA Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week 
Ana Rodrigues, LA Tech, Sr., Montes Claros, Brazil 
Zoie Epps, LA Tech, So., Norman, Okla. 
 
Earning their third CUSA Doubles Team of the Week honor, the duo of Rodrigues and Epps went a perfect 4-0 at the No. 1 position in doubles this weekend, helping to secure the doubles point in all four home victories – 4-2 over Liberty, 4-1 over UTEP and two wins against Grambling State. With the doubles point coming down to court one versus the Lady Flames, Rodrigues and Epps held serve to force a tiebreaker and then rattled off seven straight points to win 7-6 (0). Later that day, the duo secured a 6-1 win over the Lady Tigers. On Sunday, the tandem was down 2-4 to the Miners before winning four straight games to take it 6-4. In another doubleheader versus Grambling, Rodrigues and Epps prevailed 6-2 to extend their doubles winning streak to eight matches.
