DALLAS – The FIU women’s tennis team saw its season come to a close at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, falling to Stanford. The Panthers wrapped up an impressive campaign with a 15-5 overall record and captured their third consecutive Conference USA title.
 
FIU grabbed an early edge over the Cardinals, taking the doubles point. This year’s CUSA Doubles Team of the Championship, Valery Gynina and Ekaterina Khairutdinova delivered a commanding performance with a 6-3 victory over Stanford’s Caroline Driscoll and Valencia Xu. FIU’s Dana Baidaulet and Aleksandra Simeva secured the doubles point, defeating Stanford’s Chidimma Okpara and Morgan Shaffer, 7-5.
 
Stanford gained momentum in singles play, securing victories in four matches while two went unfinished, defeating FIU 4-1.
