BSB: Gamecocks Knock Off Top-Seeded Patriots, Advance to First CUSA Title Game

LYNCHBURG, Va. – No. 4 Jax State knocked off No. 1 DBU for the second time on Saturday night, 5-3 in the 2025 CUSA Baseball Championship from Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium. The Gamecocks advance to their first-ever CUSA title game and will play the No. 2-seeded Hilltoppers at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday on CBS Sports Network.
 
Matthew Cash drove in three of the five Jax State runs after going 1-4 with a go-ahead two-out, two-run single in the top of the eighth inning. Brady Thomas finished the night 2-3 with a walk and two runs. Grayson Ashe got the scoring started in the fourth as he grounded a single into right center field to take a 1-0 lead.
 
Jax State starter James Wilson gave his squad a solid 4.0 innings of work, striking out four and allowing just one earned run. Brice Deaton earned the win in relief, hurling 3.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and two punchouts. Ryan Geraghty made his third appearance this week and tallied the five-out save, sending the Gamecocks to the title game.
 
Jax State and WKU are both making their first CUSA title game appearance and will play for a chance to secure the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
 
DBU will wait to hear their name called on Selection Monday, scheduled for 12 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
