Arsit Areephun and Kennesaw State’s
Shaun Cook earned Co-Golfer of the Week on the men's side.
CUSA Women’s Golfer of the Week – Sydney Hackett, WKU – Sr. – Ashburn, Va.
Hackett led WKU to a third place finish out of 14 teams at the Badger Invitational hosted by Wisconsin. The Ashburn, Va., native carded an 8-under par 208 to place second, just one stroke behind first. Hackett finished under par in all three rounds, her best round was in the second, when she carded a 4-under 68. She made par or better on all but three holes for the entire tournament. The senior's third place finish marks her 10th top-five finish and 13th top-10 finish of her career.
CUSA Men’s Co-Golfer of the Week – Arsit Areephun, Delaware – Jr. - Chiang Rai, Thailand
For his first career individual victory, Areephun claimed medalist honors and led Delaware to a convincing team title at the Blue Hen Intercollegiate, winning the tournament by 29 strokes. He turned in a 54-hole score of 7-under par 209 to earn the win by three strokes. Areephun opened the tournament with rounds of 68 (-4) and 69 (-3) on Monday to sit in the lead at 7-under par after 36 holes. He had six birdies over the first 18 holes, including four-consecutive holes, and 13 for the tournament. The junior carded an even-par 72 on Tuesday to clinch his first victory, becoming the first UD men’s golfer to win a tournament since the 2020-21 season. Areephun has top-10 finishes in both tournaments this year, marking 10 total for his career.
CUSA Men’s Co-Golfer of the Week – Shaun Cook, Kennesaw State – Sr. - Norcross, Ga.
Cook finished third at the J.T. Poston Invitational with rounds of 68-67-69 for a 6-under par total of 204, beating players from Southern Miss, Western Carolina, Virginia Tech, Elon, James Madison, along with others. His 6-under par total tied the school record for 54-hole total on par-70 golf course. Cook made 29 pars, 13 birdies and 2 eagles in the 54-hole event, while also hitting a hole-in-one on the seventh hole in the final round. He played to a 3.06 scoring average on par 3's, 3.92 on par 4's and 4.58 on par 5's. His performance helped lead the team to a second-place finish in which they broke the team 18 and 54-hole scoring records on a par-70 course.
