DALLAS – Delaware claimed two of Conference USA’s Athlete of the Week awards as
Amelia Gorman was named Women’s Athlete of the Week and the team of
Euan Mackenzie and
Tobey Lock were named the Men’s Doubles Team of the Week. Middle Tennessee’s
Ondrej Horak also picked up an award as the Men’s Athlete of the Week, along with the Women’s Doubles Team of the Week winners
Virginia Madueño and
Barbara Olvera from Western Kentucky.
CUSA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week – Amelia Gorman, Delaware – Sr. – Bethel Park, Pa.
Gorman started home action going 2-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles. She played singles in the No. 2 position, defeating opponents from Villanova and FDU. She defeated NEC Tournament MVP Yelena Kim from FDU 6-3, 6-2. Gorman also played first doubles, winning both matches.
Women's Doubles Team of the Week – WKU
Virginia Madueño – Fr. – Alicante, Spain
Barbara Olvera – Fr. – Guayaquil, Ecuador
The WKU true freshman duo of Madueño and Olvera improved to 4-1 together this season with a pair of wins over UT Southern at the No. 2 position in Friday's doubleheader sweep. Madueño and Olvera defeated UT Southern's Sofi Rueda and Maya Balle in the first match 6-0, and defeated Agota Juozapaviciute and Sienna Ruberto 6-0 in the second match. The pair have helped WKU claim the doubles point in the last three matches, all of which the Lady Toppers won.
Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week – Ondrej Horak, MTSU - Sr. – Opava, Czech Republic
Horak achieved a comeback singles win against Vanderbilt’s No. 62-ranked Martinez Gomez after dropping the first set in a tiebreaker, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-2. That win on court No. 1 marked second ranked win of the season and is now 7-0 in singles play. On Sunday, he contributed to the only point for MTSU by defeating Indiana’s Jip van Assendelft, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, in his No. 1 singles match.
Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week - Delaware

Tobey Lock – Sr. – Bristol, United Kingdom
The duo of Euan Mackenzie and Tobey Lock battled to a 1-1 record for the Blue Hens last week, as the squad defeated Villanova and reigning Patriot League champion Bucknell. The 35th-ranked pair in the country, took down Villanova’s top doubles team on court No. 1 7-5. The two came up short in their doubles match with Bucknell’s top dup, 6-3. However, Delaware went 2-0 as a team last week as they bounced back in singles action versus Bucknell.
