DALLAS – Jacksonville State swept Conference USA's women's tennis weekly awards as
Irene Artigas and the doubles team of
Polina Ramenskaja and
Aneka Patel received honors. On the men's side, Liberty's
Siwanat Auyatyakul has been named the Men's Athlete of the Week and Liberty's
Mason Robins and
James Sclater have been named the Men's Doubles Team of the Week.
Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week – Irene Artigas, Jax State – Sr. – Valencia, Spain
Artigas helped lead Jax State to a 4-0 week against Eastern Kentucky, Cumberlands, Murray State, and Tennessee State. Artigas went 4-0 in singles on the week playing in the No. 3 slot. Against EKU, Artigas won 6-0, 5-0 versus Marilou Cote, then she won 6-1, 6-0 against Victoria Zarate of Cumberlands. In the home match against Murray State, Artigas defeated Sofia Issakova of Murray State 6-2, 6-1. The senior wrapped up the week beating Tennessee State's Victoria Cooksey 6-0, 6-1 on the road. Artigas has impressed this season with an 8-1 singles record and helped Jax State to a 38-24 mark in singles as a team this season.
Women's Doubles Team of the Week – Jax State
Polina Ramenskaja – Sr. – Narva, Estonia
Aneka Patel – So. – London, England
Ramenskaja and Patel are coming off a 4-0 week against Eastern Kentucky, Cumberlands, Murray State, and Tennessee State. Against Eastern Kentucky, the duo downed EKU's Anastas Cherniakova and Masha Fedenko 6-2. The next day, Patel and Ramenskaja defeated Cumberlands' Mahiro Hara and Yu Fang Liu 6-2. In the home match versus Murray State, the Gamecocks' duo beat the Racers' Yuna Kadowaki and Yu Kikawa 6-4. The Jax State pair then wrapped up the week at Tennessee State with a 6-1 win over Victoria Cooksey and Claudia Murdasanu. Ramenskaja and Patel helped Jax State win all four matches last week and improved their record to 9-4 overall and a 5-1 road record. They lead the Gamecocks with an 8-3 mark on the year and have helped Jax State to a 23-10 mark in doubles this season.
Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week – Siwanat Auytayakul, Liberty – So. – Bangkok, Thailand
Auytayakul led Liberty to a pair of 7-0 sweeps over Georgia State and William & Mary. In the No. 1 singles position, the sophomore came back from falling in the first set to best GSU's Gabriele Datei 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (1). That match marked his first career win at the top of the lineup. In No. 2 singles, Auytayakul topped W&M's Oliver Hague 6-4, 7-5, improving to 6-6 this season.
Men's Doubles Team of the Week – Delaware
Mason Robins – Jr. – College Park, Md.
James Sclater – Jr. – Dorset, United Kingdom
Robins and Sclater continued their dominant run in doubles play, improving to 5-0 on the year and picking up their third and fourth doubles victories in as many matches during dual match play. The duo won 6-2 over Navy, and slotted in at second doubles against Bryant, where they competed against one half of the No. 69 doubles team in the country in Miguel Angel Machado, who they beat 6-3.
