TEN: March 4 Athletes of the Week

DALLAS – Louisiana Tech’s Zoie Epps and Middle Tennessee’s Ondrej Horak have been named this week’s Conference USA Tennis Athletes of the Week while Liberty’s pair of Yoanna Radulova and Maria Turchetto along with MTSU’s duo of Karim Al-Amin and Horak have been named the Doubles Teams of the Week.
 
Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week – Zoie Epps, LA Tech – Jr. – Norman, Okla.
Epps helped the Bulldogs to a pair of key road victories this past weekend, defeating both UAB and league foe Jax State each by a score of 4-1. As a result, LA Tech has won five straight and seven of its last eight matches. Epps was dominant in both matches at the No. 1 position, winning both in straight sets while surrendering a total of just five games. The junior defeated UAB's Kristyna Damaskova 6-1, 6-2 on Saturday followed by a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jax State's Polina Ramenskaja.  
 
Women's Doubles Team of the Week – Liberty
Yoanna Radulova – So. – Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Maria Turchetto – Jr. – Florianópolis, Brazil
For their second Doubles Team of the Week honor, Radulova and Turchetto went 2-0 on the week at No. 1 doubles to lead Liberty to a 4-3 win over Marshall and a 4-0 sweep of East Carolina. The duo topped Marshall's No. 1 pair (Alina Mokrynska/Polina Gumeniuk) 6-4, then after trailing 3-5 against ECU's No. 1 duo (Kim Auerswald/Reese Calvo) they won four straight games (7-5) to seal the doubles round 2-1. They improved to 8-1 this spring, all at No. 1 doubles.
 
Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week – Ondrej Horak, MTSU - Sr. – Opava, Czech Republic
Horak secured the decisive point on court one, defeating Princeton's Fnu Nidunjianzan with scores of 6-2, 7-5. With the score tied at 5-5, Horak won the final two games, bringing MTSU's lead to 5-0 and helping them achieve a sweep against No. 19 Princeton on Friday. On Sunday, Horak continued his performance by winning 6-3, 6-2 against Alabama State's Milan Ristov on court one. In a singles match against Austin Peay, Horak was the first to finish, winning 6-4, 2-0 against Rohan Loubser, who retired in the second set. This victory provided the Blue Raiders with their second point, making the score 2-0.
 
Men's Doubles Team of the Week – MTSU
Karim Al-Amin – Sr. – Waltrop, Germany
Ondrej Horak – Sr. – Opava, Czech Republic
In doubles play, the No. 38-ranked team of Horak and Al-Amin achieved a 6-1 win on court one against Alabama State's Gord Fran Mileusnic and Vid Maric. Al-Amin and Horak secured the doubles point by defeating Austin Peay's Rohan Loubser and Logan Tomovski 7-5 on court one.  On Friday, the match between Al-Amin and Horak against Princeton's Landon Ardila and Evan Wen was left unfinished at a score of 5-4 after the doubles point was claimed. This was the duo’s second consecutive Doubles Team of the Week honor and third overall this season.
