NEWARK, Del. – An eighth-inning RBI single from
Allie Furr helped No. 7 LA Tech to a 2-1 triumph over No. 6 FIU in an elimination game at the 2026 CUSA Softball Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Delaware Softball Diamond.
With two outs and a pair of runners in scoring position, Furr sent one back up the middle and
Jina Baffuto slid under the tag to plate the go-ahead run. The clutch play came after the Bulldogs had recorded only one hit on the previous 14 at-bats with runners in scoring position.
LA Tech pitcher
Bryannah Campos (8-3) entered in the third inning and tossed six innings of scoreless relief while surrendering just one hit and tallying four strikeouts. She held her composure in high-leverage situations, limiting the Panthers (34-18) to 1-8 hitting with runners in scoring position, including escaping a bases-loaded jam with two outs in the sixth inning.
FIU starter
J’dah Girigorie (10-8) suffered the loss after giving up both runs on nine hits in 7.2 innings. She recorded five strikeouts and just one walk.
The Bulldogs (30-23) advance to face No. 3 Liberty in Wednesday’s night cap, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
