NEWARK, Del. – Catcher Savannah Jessee drove in five runs as No. 3 Liberty handed No. 7 LA Tech a 9-0 run-rule defeat in the CUSA Softball Championship on Wednesday night at the Delaware Softball Diamond.

The redshirt junior went 2-2 with a pair of pivotal extra-base hits – a two-run homer in the third inning and a two-run double in the home half of the fourth to secure the necessary margin to initiate the mercy rule.

The Lady Flames (27-27) poured on eight runs in the third and fourth innings as Alexia Carrasquillo joined in the fun with a solo shot in the third, while Savanah Whatley and Brynn McManus added RBI base knocks in the fourth.

Liberty starter Camden Anders (13-6) tossed a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts and just two walks, and all three hits that she allowed were singles. LA Tech’s Ruby Fidge (3-3) suffered the loss after giving up four runs on five hits in 2.2 innings.

The Lady Flames advance to face No. 2 WKU at 2:30 p.m. ET Thursday, while the Bulldogs (30-24) will take on No. 5 NM State in an elimination game at 5 p.m. ET Thursday.
