ARDMORE, Pa. – Recent Liberty graduate
Josh Ryan earned medalist honors at the 126th U.S. Amateur Championship in Ardmore, Pa., on Tuesday following stroke play.
Ryan secured the low score with an 8-under par 132 (67-65), just one shot off the U.S. Amateur lowest stroke play record of 131 set by Hayden Wood in 2017. He also finished one shot shy off the 18-hole Merion Golf Course record.
It was somewhat of a homecoming for the Liberty Flame, as Ryan grew up roughly 30 minutes from the course in Norristown, Pa.
Following his success, Ryan has advanced to match play which will begin on Wednesday afternoon. He will be accompanied by teammate and 2026 CUSA Champion
Michael Lugiano who finished stroke play tied for 16
th with a 1-under par 139 (71-68).
The U.S. Amateur Round of 64 will be broadcast on Peacock from 3 to 6 p.m. ET.
