Charlotte goalie Abby Stapleton recorded seven saves to hold off the Mean Green and lead them into overtime. Forward and All-Tournament Team honoree Megan Greene had five shots in the game, but it wasn’t enough to lead the 49ers to a repeat championship.

It took North Texas four shots in PKs to win the championship title for the second time in its C-USA tenure.

The first shot and goal was taken by Tori Phillips, putting North Texas ahead. Charlotte’s Abby Taylor notched the only PK score for the 49ers, which was quickly answered with a PK goal by Ellie Marie Defrain. The game-winning PK came from the tournament’s Offensive MVP Taylor Torres.
