LYNCHBURG, Va. – No. 2 Liberty punches their ticket to the title match of the 2025 CUSA Women’s Soccer Championship after defeating No. 3 Sam Houston 2-0 on Tuesday at Osborne Stadium.
The Flames (13-3-4, 6-0-2 CUSA) played nearly perfect defense en route to a 2-0 victory over the Bearkats, advancing to their third consecutive conference title match. The Liberty back line held the Sam Houston offense to zero shots on goal all evening. The victory on Tuesday marks their eighth straight.
Liberty forward and CUSA Player of the Year
Ivy Garner tallied both goals including the game-winner off a penalty kick in the sixth minute. Garner has tallied two goals in each of the Flames’ two contests this week. Her four goals in the tournament ties the CUSA championship record with UAB’s Jenny Rynders back in 2004.
The Flames will take on the winner of the MTSU and Missouri State contest on Friday, Nov. 7 at Noon ET at Osborne Stadium.
