BASE: All-Academic Team

DALLAS – Conference USA’s commitment to off-field excellence continues as 11 baseball student-athletes have been named to the 2021 C-USA Baseball All-Academic Team. Honorees must hold a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2 and have competed in at least 75 percent of their team’s games.

Steele Netterville headlines as a repeat honoree in 2021. The Louisiana Tech senior is a four-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal for his 3.89 GPA in biology and minor in chemistry. Netterville is tied for the team lead with nine home runs.
 
Also representing Louisiana Tech is Jonathan Fincher. The junior biology major compiled a 3.89 GPA and is a three-time selection to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and Academic Medal lists. The Bulldog ace leads his team with a 2.77 ERA.  
 
Southern Miss garnered a pair of honorees in Drew Boyd and Hunter Stanley. Boyd boasts an unblemished 4.00 GPA while majoring in biological sciences and is a three-time C-USA Honor Roll recipient. The sophomore left-handed pitcher holds a 4-2 record on the season.
 
Stanley has a 3.952 GPA in exercise science and has collected a pair of C-USA Academic Medals. The senior is 5-3 in 13 starts and has struck out 105 batters on the year.
 
Charlotte’s David McCabe, a pre-business administration major, owns a 3.926 GPA. The sophomore out of Oshawa, Ontario, has put together an outstanding season despite missing several weeks due to injury. McCabe has a .352 average in 32 games played and a team-high 12 dingers and earned C-USA Hitter of the Week on May 24.
 
With a 3.9 GPA in marketing, FIU junior pitcher Steven Casey tossed the sixth no-hitter in FIU history on April 17th at Marshall. It was the first for the Panthers since 2011 and first solo no-hitter in C-USA since 2005. His historical performance earned him C-USA Pitcher of the Week and Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week.
 
Florida Atlantic’s Mitchell Hartigan, a finance major, has maintained a 3.886 GPA. The sophomore is putting together a career year, hitting .324 with 59 base hits and seven homers.
 
Adam Link has made 10 appearance on the mound for Middle Tennessee with a 1-1 record and 10 strikeouts. The junior business administration major holds a perfect 4.0 GPA and is a C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal recipient.
 
A four-year fixture in the Old Dominion program, Kyle Battle has maintained a 3.92 GPA in sport management. The Monarch star blasted 17 home runs, good for first in C-USA, and posted 54 RPI on the season.

Rice’s Bradley Gneiting is a four-time C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection. The graduate student penned a 3.64 GPA in accounting and was second on the team with a .302 batting average. The Keller, Texas, native tallied 57 hits, eight homers and started in all 53 games for the Owls.
 
Rounding out this year’s honorees is WKU’s Jackson Swiney. The St. Louis native is an accounting major with a 3.97 GPA. A two-time member of the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll, Swiney started 36 games for the Tops and had seven multi-hit games in 2021.
