BASE: FAU's Rincones, Jr., ODU's Morgan Earn POTW Honors

DALLAS – Following standout performances this past week, Florida Atlantic OF/INF Gabriel Rincones, Jr. and Old Dominion LHP Blake Morgan brought home C-USA baseball’s weekly awards, the league announced on Monday. Rincones had a monster offensive performance this week for the Owls, who went 2-2. Morgan shut down UTSA in C-USA play on Friday night as the Monarchs picked up the series opener at home. The 2022 C-USA Players of the Week awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf.
 
HITTER OF THE WEEK
GABRIEL RINCONES, JR., FLORIDA ATLANTIC
SOPHOMORE, OF/INF, GLENROTHES, SCOTLAND
Rincones hit .467 (7-of-15), slugged 1.333, had four home runs, a double and nine RBI, helping Florida Atlantic to a 2-2 overall mark on the week. Rincones hit safely in all four games, had multiple hits in two of those four games including a two-homer performance on Saturday against UAB, Rincones’ third multi-home run game on the season. The Scotland native ran his league-leading RBI total to 50 by driving in nine runs, eight of which came against UAB in a three-game set over the weekend.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
BLAKE MORGAN, OLD DOMINION
FRESHMAN, LHP, MARLTON, N.J.
Morgan set career highs with 6.0 innings of work and 10 strikeouts, while scattering just three hits in an 11-0 shutout win over UTSA on Friday to open the series. Morgan was dominant for the Monarchs, allowing just the three baserunners without a walk, facing 22 hitters in the win while holding them to a paltry .143 average.
