DALLAS – Conference USA announced its 2023 Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team today, honoring 10 First Team selections from six member institutions for their academic and athletic accomplishments this season. UAB placed a total of three student-athletes on the team, while Tulane and UTEP had two each.

Ella Alexander is a 2022 C-USA All-Academic Team honoree. She currently has 11 wins playing on courts four and five. Alexander set the school record in 2022 for single season wins with 22, and she ranks eighth all-time in career victories at UAB. She has made the C-USA Honor Roll all four years at UAB.
Emma Andraka is UAB’s all-time leader in career wins (55 and counting). She has played in the middle of UAB’s lineup for the last five years while being on a full academic scholarship for Neuroscience. Upon graduation she will attend the PhD neuroscience program at either UNC Chapel Hill, Cornell or NYU. Andraka has been named to the C-USA Honor Roll all five years at UAB.
In her first season playing beach volleyball at FIU,
Athina Dimitriadis has a 5-5 overall record. On court five paired with Zuzanna Bielak, she has wins over then-ranked No. 20 Washington and No. 19 South Carolina. She holds a 4.0 GPA studying international business.
Emily Heintzelman is a regular member of the Tulane Dean’s List. She has compiled a 15-8 spring record, with five matches clinched with Samantha Mehlman – including wins against No. 12 Stetson and No. 19 South Carolina.
Madison Hill joined UTEP’s inaugural beach team from the indoor squad and has proved to be a powerful asset for the program as she has a team-best record of seven wins while competing over two courts this season. She had a five-match winning streak helping the Miners win three of five duals.
Christine Jarman has played in every match this season on courts 1 and 2 with 10 wins. She was part of the C-USA pair of the month in October and November. Jarman will be graduating in August with her MBA and was on the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2021-2022 academic year.
Samantha Mehlman has been a member of the Tulane Dean’s List her entire career. She has compiled a 15-8 spring record, five matches clinched with Heintzelman – including over No. 12 Stetson and No. 19 South Carolina. She also went 2-4 in the AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Pairs Championships.
Serena Patterson joined UTEP’s inaugural beach team from the indoor squad and has posted four wins while competing over three courts this season in the Miner’s first year of beach volleyball. She recorded the program’s first pair win and helped the Miners win its first dual.
Adriana Pereira was the Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year in 2023. She was also a 2022 First Team All-Conference USA honoree. Pereira set the single season Court 1 win’s record with 20 victories in 2022. She has been a member of the C-USA Honor Roll all four years at UAB.
Brooklyn Schiffli has started in and played in all 16 matches in 2023. She scored her first victory in the sand this season with a three-set triumph alongside Isabelle Fuell on court 2 in a mid-March match against the State College of Florida. She is also a member of the Jax State indoor volleyball squad, where she has been a two-year contributor.
