DALLAS – Following standout performances, Jacksonville State third baseman Brennen Norton and New Mexico State left-hander Hayden Walker earned CUSA weekly honors. The 2024 CUSA Players of the Week are presented by Blenders Eyewear.
 
CUSA Hitter of the Week – Brennen Norton, Jax State – Jr. – 3B – Cullman, Ala.
Norton powered Jax State’s (16-29, 4-14 CUSA) offense to a 2-2 week where he went 11-for-17 (.647) with two home runs, three doubles, eight RBI, seven runs, a .714 on-base percentage and slugged 1.176. The junior third baseman recorded three or more hits in three of the four games, including a 4-for-4 effort on Sunday. Norton highlighted the Gamecocks’ 12-11 win over DBU on Saturday with a pair of two-run homers. His eighth inning long ball tied the game up 11-11. Along with his 11 knocks, Norton drew a pair of walks, was hit by a pitch twice and had a stolen base.
 
CUSA Pitcher of the Week – Hayden Walker, NM State – Sr. – LHP – Corrales, N.M.
Walker was nails on the hill for the Aggies (23-24, 9-12 CUSA) in relief over the weekend, earning the win in each of the victories over LA Tech. The senior southpaw closed out Saturday and Sunday’s contests going a total of 5.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on one hit, two walks and three strikeouts. Walker held the Bulldog bats to a .067 batting average in his efforts, shutting down an offense that homered 17 times over the three games.
