Charlee Solomon earned Conference USA Volleyball Player of the Week honors.
CUSA Offensive Player of the Week – Torrance Lovesee, UTEP – Sr. – OH – Leon, Kan.
Lovesee powered the UTEP offense in the Miners’ weekend sweep of Kennesaw State. The senior outside hitter led the team with 37 kills (5.29 per set) while hitting an impressive .400 across the two matches. Lovesee had a career-high performance on Friday night, pacing all players with 22 kills in the 3-1 victory, before following up with 15 more in Saturday’s sweep. She finished the weekend with 39 total points (5.57 per set).
CUSA Defensive Player of the Week – Izzy Van De Wiele, WKU – Jr. – MB – Bettendorf, Iowa
Van De Wiele had arguably the best two-match performance of the season in the Hilltoppers (22-5, 13-1 CUSA) seven-set sweep of Delaware. Van De Wiele absolutely erupted at the net, finishing with 15 total blocks including four solo stuffs. The Iowa native posted an average of 2.14 blocks per set and was responsible for almost 70% of WKU's total blocks against the Blue Hens. Putting together an all-around performance, she also finished with the second most kills on the weekend, 28, on a staggering .480 hitting percentage and an incredible 4.00 kills per set. Van De Wiele's season hitting percentage of .344 is currently sixth best in the conference.
CUSA Co-Setter of the Week – Mattie Gantt, UTEP – Sr. – Aledo, Texas
Gantt was instrumental in directing UTEP’s (23-3, 13-1 CUSA) efficient offense throughout the weekend sweep of Kennesaw State. Playing in all seven sets as part of the Miners’ 6-2 system, Gantt tallied 36 assists (5.15 per set) to go along with 16 digs. Her connection with UTEP’s hitters helped fuel a .298 team hitting percentage over the two-match series. Alongside setter partner
Kalia Kohler, Gantt combined for 84 assists (12 per set), facilitating one of UTEP’s most consistent offensive weekends of the season.
CUSA Co-Setter of the Week – Kalia Kohler, UTEP – So. – Alpine, Utah
Kohler helped orchestrate a balanced and effective attack in the Miners’ series sweep over Kennesaw State while running UTEP’s 6-2 offense. Kohler dished out 48 assists (6.86 per set) and tallied 13 digs. Her steady setting guided the Miners to a collective .298 hitting percentage on the weekend. Working in tandem with fellow setter
Mattie Gantt, the duo combined for 84 assists (12 per set) to keep the UTEP offense firing on all cylinders.
CUSA Freshman of the Week – Charlee Solomon, Jax State – S – Papillion, Neb.
Solomon was a force while setting in Jax State's (13-13, 7-7 CUSA) two wins over New Mexico State this past week. Solomon tallied 81 assists on 9.00 assists per set, 16 digs, four kills, four aces and two total blocks against the Aggies. In the 3-2 win on Thursday, Solomon had a team-best 36 assists and the second-most digs on the team with 11. On Friday, Solomon shined with 45 assists and two aces in the 3-1 win. The Papillion, Nebraska, native leads CUSA with 938 assists and is third in the conference with an average of 9.11 assists per set. Solomon is also fourth in the league with 42 aces on the year.
