DALLAS – All 12 Conference USA teams remain ranked in the top 20 of the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll after the conclusion of fall play.
Preseason favorite Jacksonville State remains atop the rankings after a strong opening campaign, collecting 43 of the poll’s 46 first place votes. The Gamecocks finished their fall stint with a governing 31-8 record.
Moving up a spot from the preseason rankings, Vanderbilt sits at No. 2 after going 39-13 this fall. The Commodores’ stellar performance earned them two first place poll votes.
Conference USA members make up the rest of the top seven. Noticeable movement among these top programs include Arkansas State who jumped from sixth to third after finishing 36-16, and Louisiana Tech who soared from ninth to the top five with a record of 38-14. Nebraska sits at fourth, receiving one first place vote, Wichita State at sixth and Youngstown State finishing seventh.
Making up the rest of the CUSA programs include Sacred Heart (11
th), Wright State (12
th), Sam Houston (14
th), Tulane (17
th) and Valparaiso (18
th).
The bowling season will resume January 16 with 10 conference programs competing at Sacred Heart’s Northeast Classic.
