CUSA January Performers of the Month Team
Bowler & Freshman of the Month – Katelyn Abigania, Vanderbilt – Fr. – San Diego, Calif.
At the Northeast Classic, Abigania helped Vanderbilt earn a runner-up finish. On day two, she compiled scores of 200, 258, 277, 256 and 194 to place second individually with a 237 game average, which is ranked seventh in school history. Abigania was also a part of the Commodores’ 1,222-pin traditional game, which is the third highest-scoring traditional game in Vandy history.
Gianna Brandolino, Jax State – Fr. – Channahon, Ill.
The freshman was the MVP of the Northeast Classic with a 245.2 average and posting a high game of 257 against Roberts Wesleyan. In 120 total frames, Brandolino registered 81 strikes. This is her third time making the CUSA Performers of the Month Team this season.
Jenna Stretch, LA Tech – Sr. – Auburn Township, Ohio
The third-year Bulldog helped lead Tech to a fifth-place finish at the Northeast Classic and a sixth-place showing at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite. Stretch earned all-tournament second-team honors at the Northeast Classic after placing sixth individually out of 229 competitors, rolling a 1,113 across five traditional games. The Ohio native added another sixth-place individual finish this past weekend at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite, posting a 1,138 series (280, 195, 234, 235, 194).
Ashtyn Woods, Wichita State – Jr. – Santa Rosa, Calif.
Woods paced the Shockers with a 20
th place individual placement at the Northeast Classic, highlighted by a 258 for Wichita State's top traditional score of the tournament. She followed it up with a strong showing at the Saints Invite, helping WSU to a runner-up finish with a 211.0 average, good for 21
st place. Over 10 traditional games spanning two tournaments, Woods logged seven games of 200 or better.
Jillian Martin, Nebraska – Sr. – Stow, Ohio
Martin earned a spot on the Conference USA Performers of the Month team after averaging 222.9 over 10 traditional games in the Huskers’ two January events. Martin led the Huskers to a third-place finish at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite, finishing second with a pinfall of 1,156 over five games (231.2 average) to earn all-tournament honors. She posted scores 230 or better in three of the five traditional matches, including a high game of 257 against Wright State. Martin recorded her second top-15 finish of the month at the Northeast Classic, finishing 14
th overall with an average of 214.60 over five traditional games, including a high game of 234.
Keira Magsam, Jax State – So. – Gretna, Neb.
The sophomore averaged 239.5 in Baker play and 257 in traditional during the weekend. In the match against William Smith, she shot a team-best 280. Magsam posted a total strike percentage of 78.4%.
