ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – WKU captured its first CUSA Women’s Golf Championship title and earned the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Championship, after finishing seven-over 871 for the tournament at the World Golf Village Slammer and Squire Golf Course. Sydney Hackett tied with NM State’s
Emma Bunch for first place at 6-under 210, after shooting a career-low 5-under 67 round. Hackett won the battle and took home the individual low medalist crown for the Lady Toppers.
WKU recorded 19 birdies as a team during the final round to pull away with a seven-stroke victory after entering the day in second place.
Catie Craig also finished in the top-five, earning All-Tournament honors. She shot an even-par 216 for the tournament, finishing tied for fifth place.
Jax State concluded the event at 13-over 878 for a second-place finish as
Lara El Chaib (-4) led the Gamecocks with a third-place finish, earning a spot on the All-Tournament team. FIU rounded out the top-three 10-over 301 in the final round to finish +19.
In addition to Hackett, Craig, Bunch and El Chaib, a pair of players also earned All-Tournament honors. Sam Houston’s
Grace Jin (-1) finished in fourth place, while Middle Tennessee’s
Abbie Lee (E) tied for fifth place.
The NCAA Selection Show is set to be televised on Golf Channel on Wednesday, April 23, at 1 p.m. CT.
