DALLAS - The 2024-25 Conference USA women’s golf all-conference and superlative honors were announced Thursday with New Mexico State’s
Emma Bunch named the CUSA Women’s Golfer of the Year. All the superlative awards were voted on by the league’s eight head coaches, while the all-conference teams were based on the league’s player rankings by Clippd.
Bunch was named CUSA Golfer of the Year for the second consecutive year, while WKU’s
Sydney Hackett was named Most Improved Golfer of the Year and Jax State’s
Rebekka Stutley was selected as the Freshman of the Year. WKU’s head coach
Adam Gary earned back-to-back Coach of the Year honors after receiving the award last season.
Six women’s golf programs collected all-conference accolades. League champion and No. 60 WKU paced the league with four honorees including two on the first team, while Jax State had three representatives and FIU, MTSU, NM State and Sam Houston had two student-athletes across the all-conference teams.
Bunch finished the year with two individual wins, while posting seven top-10 finishes and four top-5 finishes. The four-time CUSA Golfer of the Week recipient tied for first at the CUSA Championship but placed second after an individual playoff. She tied for 11
th place at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in a field of 72 of the top amateur golfers in the world and had one of the lowest scores by a first-time competitor at the event. Bunch was only one of two CUSA golfers to qualify for ANWA and the only CUSA golfer to make the cut. The Lynge, Denmark, native has finished in the top 25 in 20 of her last 21 tournaments.
Hackett finished her sophomore campaign with a stroke average of 75.2 and only had two top-10 finishes in 10 tournaments. In her junior season with the Lady Toppers, Hackett has improved her stroke average to 72.78 and earned seven top-10 finishes in 11 events, including claiming the individual crown at the 2025 CUSA Championship after defeating NM State’s Bunch in an individual playoff, where she birdied the first playoff hole. The native of Ashburn, Va., finished with a 6-under 210, thanks to a final-round 5-under 67 to win the event. She has six top-4 finishes, seven top 10s and eight top 20s. Fifteen of Hackett’s 32 rounds have been played at Par or better.
Stutley completed the year with the best scoring average among freshmen in CUSA with 74.3 and acquired an 81.12 percent win rate this season. She’s finished every tournament inside of the top-15 and has a 12-1 head-to-head record against all CUSA freshman, with her only loss coming to teammate, Lara El Chaib at the CUSA Championship. She was awarded CUSA Golfer of Week Feb. 12 after finishing sixth at Hammock Creek with a score of +1, highlighted by a -2 (70) in the second round.
Gary led the Lady Toppers to their first conference championship in the 48-year history of the program on April 17th. He has led WKU to four tournament wins this season, the most in a single season in program history. All four of WKU's team victories came this spring, the first time in program history the Lady Tops would win more than two spring events. WKU achieved a season-high ranking of No. 57 and entered the CUSA Championships at No. 62, more than 30 spots above the next best team in the conference.
