DALLAS – Liberty’s Brendan Pitcher, Kate Goodyear, Joshua Smith, Sofia Mojica, Trevor Veenstra and Rachel Hill collected this season’s last set of Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors.
  
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week – Brendan Pitcher – Liberty – R-JR. – Mason, Ohio
Pitcher clocked a season-best of 1:48.60 in the men’s 800-meter run for third place at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier. Pitcher bested student-athletes from Virginia and NC State. His time in the 800 ranks third in CUSA.
  
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – Kate Goodyear – Liberty – R-SR.  – Elizabethtown, Pa.
Goodyear finished second in the women’s 1500-meter run at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier. The redshirt senior recorded a season-best of 4:19.84, and her time ranks seventh in the conference.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week – Joshua Smith – Liberty – JR. – South Fulton, Ga.
At the Liberty Twilight Qualifier, Smith won the men’s triple jump by three feet with a mark of 49-6.25 (15.09m). He also placed third in the men’s long jump while tying his personal best of 23-2.75 (7.08m). The junior Flame sits at No. 2 in Conference USA in triple jump.
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week – Sofia Mojica – Liberty – R-SR. – Queretaro, Mexico
Mojica successfully defended her Liberty Twilight Qualifier women’s discus title with a mark of 157-7 (48.03m), winning by more than 10 feet. The Queretaro, Mexico, native ranks fifth in CUSA for women’s discus.
 
Men’s Freshman of the Week – Trevor Veenstra – Liberty – FR. – Lynnville, Iowa 
Veenstra threw a discus personal-best of 171-6 (52.28m) to capture the runner-up title at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier. He ranks No. 6 in Conference USA, including first among freshmen.
 
Women’s Freshman of the Week – Rachel Hill – Liberty – FR. – Dunnellon, Fla.
Hill finished eighth in the women’s 1500-meter race at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier. The freshman Flame captured a personal-best of 4:29.87, cutting five seconds off her previous best time. Hill ranks No. 19 in CUSA, including third among freshmen this season.
