DALLAS – At the conclusion of the 2026 CUSA Indoor Track and Field Championships, the league has awarded postseason honors as voted on by the head coaches. Liberty picked up three postseason titles, while Kennesaw State earned a pair and FIU rounded out the awards with one.
To earn the title of Male Track Performer of the Meet, Kennesaw State’s
Chance Cross won the 60-meter in a blistering time of 6.56 seconds. It marked the second consecutive event win, championship meet record and facility record for the senior and was his second fastest time of the season. Cross holds the only two sub 6.60 times in the 60-meter in CUSA this year and is the first Owl to break 6.60 in that event. With an outstanding season in the 60-meter, Cross has qualified for the NCAA DI Indoor Track and Field Championships as the 10th ranked competitor.
Liberty’s
Allie Zealand picked up another postseason honor in her career after being named the Women’s Track Performer of the Meet. Helping to lead her team to a runner-up finish, Zealand was named the Women's High Point Scorer of the Meet thanks to her 22.5 points, the most of any athlete at the CUSA Championship, male or female. She won all three of her events, including her second straight women's mile title (4:37.83), the 3K crown (9:35.37) and the distance medley relay title (11:34.61, anchored by her 4:55.76 split), making her the first women's athlete at this meet since 2022 to sweep the mile and 3K titles. Her winning mile time of 4:37.83 just missed the meet record of 4:37.53. Zealand outdueled 5K champion Faith Nyathi of Middle Tennessee to claim the 3K crown. The sophomore has also qualified for the NCAA Championships where she will compete in the 3k.
Earning another title for the Flames was
Gilles Ouedraogo, who was named Men’s Field Performer of the Meet after winning gold in the men's triple jump with a program-record leap of 16.18 meters (53-1). That mark helped qualify him for the NCAA Championships, making him Liberty’s first triple jumper (male or female) ever to compete in that meet. His jump was the top triple jump mark by a CUSA athlete since 2019. He also took seventh place in the men's long jump with his first and only attempt of the season, measuring 7.14 meters (23-5.25).
The title of Women’s Field Performer of the Meet has been given to FIU’s
Danielle McGonigle who picked up the gold medal in the triple jump, defending her title from last year with a personal-best jump of 12.67 meters (41-7). The junior had an outstanding championship weekend, recording personal bests in the 800-meter, (2:37.12), long jump (5.88 meters, 19-3.5) and the pentathlon (3,501 points).
After coaching the Flames to their second CUSA title in three years, Liberty’s head coach
Lance Bingham has been named Men’s Coach of the Year. He led the Flames to a 37-point victory over defending champion Kennesaw State. Liberty won six-of-17 events, the most of any team at the meet, and tallied 10+ points in nine of the events.
Kennesaw State’s head coach
Cale McDaniel has been named the Women’s Coach of the Year. McDaniel led his women's squad to its first CUSA title on the women's side and the first CUSA title won by any KSU women's sport. Under his leadership, the Owls scored 140.5 points, ending Liberty's string of four-straight indoor crowns (two ASUN, two CUSA). At the CUSA Championships, the Owls won five gold, four silver and three bronze medals and the women’s team set a pair of facility and meet records in the 800-meter and 4x400-meter relay.
