BSB: Fourteen CUSA Players Selected in the 2025 MLB Draft

DALLAS – Fourteen Conference USA student-athletes were selected in the 2025 MLB Draft highlighted by DBU flamethrower James Ellwanger and CUSA Player of the Year Ryan Wideman. The standouts were both selected on night one in the third round of the draft. Ellwanger was taken 88th overall by the Minnesota Twins, while Wideman was selected 99th overall by the San Diego Padres.
 
DBU paced the league with five selections, while Liberty, FIU, and Jax State each had a pair of selections in the draft. WKU, Kennesaw State and LA Tech landed one in the 20-round draft. Six of the 14 draft picks came in the top 10 rounds.

OF Camden Troyer (Liberty) – 12th round (No. 374 overall) – New York Yankees
RHP Dylan Mathiesen (Liberty) – 13th round (No. 383 overall) – Pittsburgh Pirates
RHP Logan Forsythe (LA Tech) – 13th round (No. 397 overall) – Atlanta Braves
LHP Jackson Phipps (Jax State) – 16th round (No. 470 overall) – Athletics
RHP Owen Puk (FIU) – 18th round (No. 531 overall) – Washington Nationals
RHP Easton Marks (FIU) – 19th round (No. 557 overall) – Colorado Rockies
RHP Joe Scarborough (Jax State) – 19th round (No. 583 overall) – New York Mets

Missouri State, who joined CUSA on July 1, had two players selected in 10th round of the draft (Blake Aita, INF & Nick Rodrguez, INF).
