Sophia Hall earned Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.
Offensive Player of the Week – Chinatsu Kaio, FIU – Senior – Aizuwakamatsu, Japan
Kaio was phenomenal in a 1-0-1 week for the Panthers (1-1-1), scoring two goals with four points in the two contests. The senior midfielder notched the equalizer in Thursday’s 1-1 draw at North Florida and tallied another game-tying goal in their 3-1 victory over cross-town rival Florida Atlantic. Kaio had just one career goal going into the week and managed to surpass that feat in just two matches.
Defensive Player of the Week – Abby Wiedermann, WKU – Sophomore – St. Louis, Mo.
Wiedermann played all 90 minutes in WKU’s (2-1) shutout win at home against Jackson State on Thursday. The sophomore defender played a pivotal role in the Toppers’ second consecutive shutout of the season, while also scoring the lone goal on a set-piece off a corner kick. The St. Louis native has played all 90 minutes in two of the first three games of the season.
Goalkeeper of the Week – Sophia Hall, Delaware – Freshman – Malvern, Pa.
Hall earns her first CUSA weekly award after a perfect week in net for the Blue Hens (4-0). The freshman goalkeeper collected back-to-back shutouts on the road at George Mason and Navy as Delaware stays unbeaten through two weeks of action. The Malvern, Pa., native saw action in all 180 minutes, while recording eight saves on the week. Hall is tied for first in CUSA with a .813 save percentage.
