DALLAS – Missouri State’s Clementina Castaño and Kennesaw State’s Alejandro Caraballo have been named Conference USA’s Golfers of the Week.
 
CUSA Women’s Golfer of the Week – Clementina Castaño, Missouri State – So. – General Pico, Argentina
Castaño fired a final-round 73 to earn a three-shot victory Tuesday and picked up her first collegiate win at the Missouri State/Payne Stewart Memorial. The General Pico, Argentina, native posted an even-par 213 over 54 holes at Twin Oaks Country Club, carding 69-71 Monday before sealing the win in the final round. She led wire-to-wire, posting a three-under 32 on her first nine of the tournament and never looked back as she led the field of 66 players the entire way. The freshman's win paced the Bears to a second-place finish in the team race, four strokes shy of champion Oral Roberts. 
 
CUSA Men's Golfer of the Week – Alejandro Caraballo, Kennesaw State – Fr. – Williamsburg, VA
Caraballo finished tied for third at The Scrappy at Pinetree with rounds of 75-68-71 for a 2-under total of 214. He was one of only five players in the 69-person field to finish under par and one of eight players to shoot under par in the final round. His 4-under 68 tied for the second-lowest score in round two. Caraballo led the field in par 4 scoring at 3.93, made nine birdies and 38 pars in the 54-hole event and his 38 pars tied for the field lead. The freshman beat golfers from Alabama, Augusta, Georgia State, UT-Martin, Missouri State and Samford among others in the field. His performance led KSU to an 8-shot victory in its home event.
