MGOLF: NM State, UTEP Lead Following Day One of CUSA Men’s Golf Championship

DALLAS – Day one of the Conference USA Men’s Golf Championship opened Monday morning in Texarkana, Arkansas at the Texarkana Country Club. New Mexico State and UTEP jumped ahead following the first round, tying at 279 (-9).
 
The Aggies’ Mateo Payan led the team and leads the individual leaderboard, with an impressive 67 (-5) to open the tournament. Leading the Miners squad is Alexandre Godin who is tied for second at 68 (-4) with Western Kentucky’s Rafe Blankenship.
 
Competition will continue tomorrow beginning at 8 a.m. CT as team continue to battle for the top four spots going into the match play semifinals on Thursday morning.
