TEXARKANA, Ark. – The UTEP men’s golf program pulled ahead on the leaderboard following an outstanding performance in Round 2 of the Conference USA Men’s Golf Championship on Tuesday at the Texarkana Country Club (par 72, 6,969 yards). New Mexico State remained strong as well, sitting comfortably in second place.

The Miners recorded a 271 (-17) on the day, paced by a career-low 63 (-9) from Dylan Teeter, the lowest single round score from a CUSA championship since Tulane’s Jack Abney shot a 62 in 1996. Teeter’s performance was also just one shot away from tying the TCC course record and took him to the top of the player leaderboard. UTEP’s squad was all-around solid, with Pat Foley shooting 4-under par (68), Alexandre Godin at 3-under par (69) and Braden Smith with a 1-under par round (71).

In the overall standings, there’s a four-way tie for second place with New Mexico State’s Mateo Payan and Javier Delgadillo, and UTEP’s Godin and Foley at 7-under par.

Round 3 will begin Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. CT. Teams will compete for a top-four spot heading into Thursday’s match play.
