DALLAS - All 10 squads are in action over the weekend as CUSA play opens up at 10:30 a.m. CT when defending champion Liberty hosts WKU at Osborne Stadium. Kennesaw State heads to the Lone Star State for a match against Sam Houston on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT. Delaware and Missouri State will open action on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT, followed by MTSU at Jax State at 1 p.m. CT. FIU and NM State will conclude week 1 of conference play in Las Cruces at 2 p.m. CT.
UNBEATEN TOPS
WKU finished non-conference play for only the second time in program history at a 6-0-4 mark. Sophomore forward Makenna Egan was sensational in their 4-1 win over SEMO last week with two goals, marking her second brace of her career. Georgia Liapis continues to lead CUSA with four assists on the season. WKU will face off with the defending CUSA tournament champs in Liberty in Lynchburg on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. ET.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Lady Flames are ready to begin league action at home where they are 5-0 this season at Osborne Stadium. It will 13 days since their previous match, but Liberty feels energized after a tough non-conference slate. Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Halle Engle leads her team with eight points and four goals heading into conference play.
BLUE RAIDERS ROLLING EARLY
The Blue Raiders head into CUSA play with a strong 7-2-2 non-conference mark and currently lead the league in shots (150), shots on goal (85), points (52) and goals (20). Forward Ania Denham is a key contributor to the MTSU success as she leads the nation with five game-winning goals. She also leads CUSA in goals (7) and points (15).
HENS HARD TO CRACK
The Blue Hens will get the chance to open up conference play with a home match against a scrappy Missouri State squad who made it to the championship game a year ago as the 8-seed. Delaware notched a win to conclude non-conference action with a 2-1 triumph over Columbia on home turf. CUSA Offensive Player of the Week Adiat Olaogun-Dickson tallied two goals last week including the equalizer against Columbia in the 2nd half.
BEARKATS BOUNCE BACK
The Bearkats finished their non-conference slate on Monday night with a dominant performance over Texas A&M - San Antionio, 7-0. Sam Houston is currently 4-0 at home this season and will open conference play on Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT against Kennesaw State. Siera Herbert and Ashtyn Magnuson lead the squad in points with eight a piece.
