DALLAS – Kennesaw State’s Anabel Orozco, Liberty’s Avenley Monteith and NM State’s Karolanne Lafortune earned Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.
 
Offensive Player of the Week – Anabel Orozco, Kennesaw State – Sr. – Fayetteville, Ga.
Orozco earns Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks after scoring both goals in KSU’s (4-4-3, 1-0 CUSA) 2-1 conference-opening win at Sam Houston. The senior midfielder was the only CUSA player to score multiple goals in a conference match this week and extended her streak to five straight matches with at least one goal contribution, totaling six goals and two assists during that span. Orozco is the first Owl since 2012 to record a goal contribution in five consecutive matches. She leads CUSA in shots (35), shots on goal (22), goals (7) and points (16).
 
Defensive Player of the Week – Avenley Monteith, Liberty – Sr. – Matthews, N.C.
Monteith earns Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping Liberty (8-2-1, 1-0 CUSA) open CUSA play with a 1-0 shutout victory over previously unbeaten WKU. The senior midfielder helped control the middle of the field as the Flames limited the Hilltoppers to nine shots, including just four on goal. Monteith also played the deep ball that led to the game-winning own goal, while helping Liberty hand WKU its first loss of the season.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week – Karolanne Lafortune, NM State – Sr. – Montreal, Quebec
Lafortune earns Goalkeeper of the Week recognition after recording five saves in NM State’s (2-7-2, 1-0 CUSA) 1-0 triumph of FIU. The senior posted her second shutout of the season and fourth of her career, while holding the Panthers scoreless for the first time this season against non-Power Four competition. Lafortune is tied for the CUSA lead with 60 saves this season and ranks fourth in the league with a .789 save percentage.
