KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Conference USA puts three women's soccer student-athletes on the 2017 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Teams. Rice's Samantha Chaiken, Charlotte's Martha Thomas and UAB's Kelsey Daugherty were each recognized for their athletic and academic abilities. 

Full United Soccer Coaches Honorees List

Chaiken landed on the first team, along with 11 other NCAA Division I student-athletes. The senior midfielder maintained a 3.37 GPA while majoring in sport management and captaining the Owls the last thriee years. 

Thomas picked up third team honors after posting 3.85 GPA in exercise science while at Charlotte. This is her second year in a row to pick up this honor and was also named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South First Team. 

UAB goalkeeper Daugherty also earned a spot on third team with a 3.71 GPA in kinesiology. The junior also earned a spot on the 2017 C-USA All-Academic First Team.
