DALLAS – Florida Atlantic’s Hunter Robbins and Louisiana Tech’s Leonie Schuknecht were named the first Conference USA Tennis Athletes of the Week of the 2023 spring season. The weekly awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.

C-USA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Hunter Robbins, Florida Atlantic, Sr., Delray Beach, Fla.
Robbins jump started his 2023 spring campaign to an impressive 3-0 record in singles play, playing at home in Boca Raton, Fla., in colder and windier weather than the team is accustomed to. The senior captain defeated Conrad Brown (UC Santa Barbara) 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, Wes Barnett (Rice) 3-6, 7-6, 6-0 and Tom Pisane (South Florida) 6-3, 6-1. The Delray Beach, Fla., native also cashed in a 2-0 record in doubles play with wins over UC Santa Barbara and South Florida alongside partner Kevin Huempfner.
 
C-USA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Leonie Schuknecht, LA Tech, Jr., Bottrop, Germany
Schuknecht got off to a stellar start to the 2023 spring season, playing at the four-team, round robin Hurricane Invite in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The junior from Bottrop, Germany, went a perfect 3-0 in singles from the No. 1 position. She defeated Maria Oreshkina (Wyoming) 7-5, 6-2 and Jessica Aragon (Omaha) 6-2, 6-2. Schuknecht biggest victory was against Tulsa’s Laia Conde Monfort 6-3 ,3-6, 7-5, the reigning AAC Player of the Year who ranked as high as No. 91 in the country last season. She also went 2-1 in doubles over the weekend from the No. 1 position with victories over Wyoming and Omaha.
