DALLAS – Rice’s Emir Sendogan and WKU’s Rachel Hermanova were named the second Conference USA Tennis Athletes of the Week of the 2023 spring season. The weekly awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.

C-USA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Emir Sendogan, So., Adana, Turkey
Sendogan remains a perfect 5-0 in singles play as he won a pair of matches over the weekend against Air Force and Denver. The sophomore from Adana, Turkey, began the weekend with a straight set win over Jonathan Mascagni (Air Force) 6-3, 6-2. In his second match, Sendogan rallied back from a set down and defeated Denver’s Connor Olsen 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 to snap the Owls three-match losing streak.
 
C-USA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Rachel Hermanova, WKU, So., Pardubice, Czech Republic
Hermanova went 3-0 this past weekend against Chattanooga, Eastern Kentucky, and Lipscomb. She is now 4-0 on the 2023 season and only dropped one set this weekend. Hermanova won at No. 4 against UTC 7-5, 6-3, at No. 3 against EKU 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 and against Lipscomb 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3. The sophomore from Pardubice, Czech Republic, currently ranks No. 10 in WKU program history for career singles wins with a record of 23-5.
