DALLAS – Middle Tennessee’s Stijn Slump and UTEP’s Carlotta Mencaglia were named Conference USA Tennis Athletes of the Week. The weekly awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.

C-USA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Stijn Slump, MTSU, Gr., Havelte, Netherlands
For the second straight weekend, Slump posted a perfect record going 4-0 and is now 9-0 over the last two weeks. On Friday, Slump and his doubles partner, Pavel Motl, defeated Rice’s Santiago Navarro and Campbell Salmon 7-5 securing the point for the Blue Raiders. In singles, the graduate student from the Netherlands picked up a 7-6, 7-6 victory over Trinity Gear on court No. 1. In the final day, Slump and Motl claimed the doubles point for MTSU defeating Virginia Tech’s Alvaro Ariza and Scott Sculley 6-2. He went on to clinch the sweep by tallying a ranked win over No. 60 Ryan Fishback of Virginia Tech 7-6, 6-3.
 
C-USA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Carlotta Mencaglia, UTEP, So., Rome, Italy
Mencaglia was a perfect 2-0 on the week in singles, with wins via straight sets in both matches. Mencaglia took out Boise State's Lorelyz Marruffo, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 singles in UTEP's lone point in the match. She elevated to No. 1 singles for the ensuing day where she blasted College of Idaho's Leiana Almaraz, 6-0, 6-1. Mencaglia teamed up with Eve Daniels for a 6-1 doubles win as well. She boasts a team-leading eight singles win on the season, including a squad-best four in dual play.
