INDIANAPOLIS – Making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the past decade, Middle Tennessee earned the No. 11 seed in the Seattle 4 Region and will face No. 6 seeded Colorado in the first round. The TV broadcast and tip time will be announced later.
Middle Tennessee captured its fourth C-USA Basketball Championship title with an 82-70 win over No. 2 WKU on Saturday night in the final contest of the 2023 C-USA Basketball Championships presented by TotalCare.
Jalynn Gregory, a Second-Team All-C-USA selection, was named the tournament MVP after she capped off her week with 24 points and 5-of-5 from downtown in Saturday's contest.
She averaged 17.7 points and three 3-pointers per game over three games in the tournament, shooting 37.5 percent from three-point range during the Lady Raiders’ run. Gregory averaged 13.7 points and led the conference with 2.6 3-pointers made per game this season.
MTSU is led by C-USA Co-Coach of the Year Rick Insell, who guided the Lady Raiders to back-to-back 25-win campaigns and an undefeated (14-0) season at home. The program claimed the C-USA regular-season and tournament title for the for the first time since its first year in the league in 2013-14. Their No. 11 seed in the NCAA Tournament is the highest a C-USA program has been seeded since 2018.
