DALLAS – Conference USA tabbed 12 student-athletes to its 2023 C-USA Men’s and Women’s Tennis All-Academic Teams Friday afternoon. Eight schools are represented with Middle Tennessee having three student-athletes earn spots on the list, Florida Atlantic and WKU each have two student-athletes apiece, while Charlotte, Rice, UAB, UTEP and UTSA are highlighted as well.
On the men’s side, student-athletes all had over a 3.8 GPA and featured majors in Economics, Finance, Sport Management and Computer Science.
Middle Tennessee’s
Francisco Rocha has been selected to the All-Academic team for the third time, as he holds a 3.91 GPA as a graduate student majoring in Economics with a minor in Business Administration. Teammate,
Pavel Motl earns his second selection as a Sport Management, Industry graduate student with a 4.0 GPA.
After being selected in 2021, Florida Atlantic seniors
Kevin Huempfner (3.824, Management, Leadership) and
Filip Krolo (3.889, Finance) earn their second selection, respectively. Middle Tennessee’s
Stijn Slump (3.79, Computer Science) and UTSA’s
Danijal Muminovic (3.9, BBA Economics and Marketing) earned a selection for the first time.
For the women’s selections, student-athletes also recorded a 3.8 GPA or better. The collective majors include International Business, Computer Science, Kinesiology, Psychology and Social Media Marketing.
Three student-athletes earned an all-academic selection for the second time.
Ruxi Schech, a senior at Charlotte, studying International Business with a 3.8 GPA, senior
Maria Budin of Rice, has a 3.919 and majoring in Psychology and UTEP junior
Veronika Lebisova, is majoring in Kinesiology and has a perfect 4.0 GPA.
UAB’s
Annalisa Smith (4.0, Computer Science) and WKU’s
Sofia Blanco Galzerano (3.8, Business Data Analytics/Computer Science) and
Samantha Martinez De Freitas (4.0, Social Media Marketing/Graphic Design) earned All-Academic honors for the first time this year.
The 2023 Conference USA Men’s Championship will be held April 21-23 in Houston, Texas, while the Women’s Championship will be held April 20-23 in Denton, Texas.
