WSOC: September 17 Players of the Week

DALLAS – FIU’s Noemi Paquin and NM State’s Jena Johannes and Valerie Guha earned Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.
 
Offensive Player of the Week – Noemi Paquin, FIU – Senior – Montreal, QC, Canada
Paquin pushed the Panthers (5-3-0) to their second consecutive victory as she tallied two goals in a 3-0 win over Southeast Missouri State on Thursday. The senior from Canada broke the scoreless tie in the 22nd minute while her second goal came midway through the second half to make it a 3-0 lead. This performance marks her first multi-goal game since last season, when she scored twice in a 3-1 win over UTEP.
 
Defensive Player of the Week – Jena Johannes, NM State – Junior – Kihei, Hawaii
Johannes was strong on the back line for the Aggies (5-3-1) in their 1-0 shutout win at Gonzaga on Thursday night. The junior defender played in all 90 minutes and helped NM State claim their first shutout victory of the season. The Hawaii native also managed to record one shot in the final non-conference game for the Aggies.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week – Valerie Guha, NM State – R-Sophomore – Friedberg, Germany
Guha showcased a season-high nine saves in net for NM State (5-3-1) in her seventh career shutout win over Gonzaga. The redshirt sophomore fended off 21 total shots from the Bulldogs and logged her first shutout of the 2024 campaign. After the dominant performance, Guha now has a GAA of 1.33 and leads all CUSA goalkeepers with 810 minutes of action this season.
