CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 3 seed Charlotte defeated No. 2 seed Old Dominion 4-2 for a spot in the C-USA championship game for the second consecutive season. Four different 49ers scored in the contest.

Deniz Dogan netted the equalizer in the 44
th minute, marking the first goal Charlotte conceded at home all season. The Monarchs’
Max Wilschrey scored two minutes later to give Old Dominion a 2-1 lead at halftime.
The 49ers came out hot in the second half.
Callum Montgomery scored first, followed by two more unanswered goals to secure Charlotte’s spot in the championship match. Both goalkeepers were tested all night, with Old Dominion’s
Mertcan Akar making eight saves and Charlotte’s
Elliot Panicco making six.
Charlotte will take on No. 1 seed Kentucky in the 2018 Air Force Reserve Conference USA Men’s Soccer Championship on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. ET. The championship match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
