MSOC: Five On Scholar All-Region Teams

DALLAS – Five Conference USA men’s soccer student-athletes were named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men’s Scholar All-South and All-West Region Teams, announced by the organization on Monday.

Those recognized must be nominated by their head coach of a current United Soccer Coaches member institution, have a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) or better, have started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team and be a junior or above in academic standing.
                                                                                                                            
Charlotte and UAB earned two spots apiece.
 
49ers’ senior Callum Montgomery was named to First Team All-South Region. He holds a 3.97 GPA in biological sciences and also named to the C-USA All-Academic Team. He is joined by teammate Teddy Chaouche, who was voted to Second Team. The junior has maintained a 3.34 GPA while majoring in health systems management.
 
UAB’s Mathieu Laurent made First Team All-South Region with a 3.48 GPA in marketing. Blazers’ senior Eder Mora, a C-USA All-Academic selection, was named a Second Team All-South Region honoree. Mora holds a 3.93 GPA while earning his master’s in business administration.
 
On the All-West Region Team is New Mexico’s Matt Dorsey. The business administration major posted a 3.87 GPA.
 
United Soccer Coaches’ Scholar All-America Teams will be announced Tuesday, December 11.
