NORFOLK, Va. – An early goal was enough to clinch No. 2 seed Charlotte’s third consecutive berth to the finals match of the C-USA Men’s Soccer Championship. The 49ers defeated No. 3 seed FIU 1-0 after playing them to a scoreless draw earlier this season.

Teddy Chaouche scored the game winner, his seventh goal of the season for the 49ers, in the 13^th minute off an assist from Joe Brito. The match ended fairly evenly on shots as FIU held a slim advantage with 13 to Charlotte’s 11. Both had three shots on frame. 2019 C-USA Goalkeeper of the Year Elliot Panicco recorded three saves in his eighth shutout of the season.
 
The 49ers advance to the finals where they’ll face No. 1 seed Marshall at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 17 on ESPN+. Their match in the regular season ended in a 0-0 draw. The two last faced off in the C-USA Championship in the 2015 quarterfinals, where Marshall advanced on penalty kicks.
