MSOC: Three Teams Earn NCAA Tournament Berth

DALLASNo. 13 Marshall, No. 15 Kentucky and No. 17 Charlotte will represent Conference USA in the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship, announced Monday by the NCAA.

The Thundering Herd are having a banner year, claiming the No. 11 national seed and a first-round bye in their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Marshall will host the winner between (RV) Butler and West Virginia in Huntington, West Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT. The squad, who claimed both the conference regular-season and championship titles this year, has accumulated a program-record 15 wins thus far.
 
Kentucky will welcome Loyola Chicago, the Missouri Valley Conference champion, to Lexington, Kentucky on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT. The Wildcats continued their winning ways in 2019 after advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament last season, earning an at-large bid this season to make their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance. No. 8 Indiana, who Kentucky played to a 0-0 draw during the regular season, awaits the winner of the matchup.
 
Charlotte, coming off a narrow loss in the C-USA Championship, earned their 14th trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history. The 49ers will host SoCon champion Mercer on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT. The at-large bid is their second in a row. The winner will travel to No. 2 seed, top-ranked Clemson on Sunday, Nov. 24.
 
The 2019 NCAA Tournament culminates in the College Cup in Cary, North Carolina. The two semifinal matches will take place on Dec. 13, followed by the final on Dec. 15.
