Established in 2001, the award is presented in 10 NCAA sports and focuses on the total student-athlete, encouraging students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

On the field, Panicco anchored a 49ers defense in 2019 that tallied eight shutouts and allowed just 14 goals across 20 matches. The Huntersville, North Carolina, product recorded a career-high 10 saves against No. 3 Clemson in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, helping force overtime against the Tigers.
