MSOC: 2020 All-Academic Team Announced

DALLAS – Conference USA men’s soccer student-athletes excelled on and off the field as 11 were named to the 2020 C-USA Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team. Florida Atlantic and Kentucky led the league with three honorees each.
 
There are 10 new student-athletes on the All-Academic Team with only UAB’s Joseph Buete a previous All-Academic Team honoree in 2019.
 
Buete, a senior, penned a 3.91 grade-point average (GPA) while majoring in finance. He was a C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll member and was awarded the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal last year. This season, he has played in 14 games, and is tied for the team lead in goals (two) and points (four) and leads the Blazers in shot percentage (.222).
 
A total of 10 student-athletes were named All-Academic for the first time this season.
 
Charlotte’s Axel Siguardson, a sophomore pre-business administration major, posted a 3.934 GPA. He is a two-time Conference USA Academic Medal honoree and a two-time C-USA Honor Roll member. He is also a three-time Chancellor’s List member. Siguardson has played in 10 games this season with a goal and two assists, including one game-winning goal, and his 18 shots are third on the 49ers.
 
Florida Atlantic’s Jose Igancio Alastuey had a 3.910 GPA as a sophomore business management major. He made President’s List (4.0 GPA) in the second semester and Dean’s List in all three semesters at FAU. He has played in seven games this season with one assist and six shots on goal.
 
FAU’s Ivan Mykhailenko posted a 3.506 GPA in marketing. The senior has posted three straight semesters above a 3.2 GPA and was named to FAU’s All-Academic Teams for three straight semesters. Mykhailenko was the co-winner of C-USA’s Golden Boot Award (most goals in conference play) with five goals. He scored six goals in 10 games overall this season, and he leads the team in points (12) and shots (30). He also had three game-winning goals in FAU’s six victories.
 
Florida Atlantic’s Daniel Skistad had a 3.927 GPA as a senior international business and business management double major. He boasts the best GPA on the Owls, and he has never received a GPA below 3.750. He was named to the President’s List (4.0 GPA) for three straight semesters and Dean’s List in Spring 2019. Skistad is on track to graduate this spring with summa cum laude honors for a 3.90 average.
 
Kentucky’s Leon Jones earned a 3.591 GPA in chemical engineering. The redshirt junior was named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll and the Frank G. Ham Society of Character last season. Jones has played in 16 matches this season with a goal and two assists for the Wildcats.
 
Kentucky’s Brock Lindow penned a 3.953 GPA in computer engineering. The junior earned the C-USA Academic Medal and was named to both the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll last season. He is tied for the team lead in goals with four and points with eight in 12 games played this season. Lindow also has one game-winning goal.
 
Bailey Rouse had a 3.607 GPA in civil engineering for Kentucky. The senior team captain was selected as one of 30 candidates for the the Senior CLASS Award. He was named to the C-USA All-Academic Team, the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll and the Frank G. Ham Society of Character last season. He has played in 17 matches with two goals and two assists for six points. Rouse also has a pair of game-winning goals to his credit for the Wildcats.
 
Brian Banahan earned a 3.755 GPA in management at South Carolina. The sophomore is enrolled in South Carolina’s business school and holds one of the top grade-point averages on the Gamecocks. In 16 games this season, he leads the team in scoring with seven goals and two assists for 16 points, including four goals in C-USA play. He also leads the team in shots (40) and shots on goal (24).
 
South Carolina’s Logan Hitzeman penned a 3.755 GPA in finance. The sophomore was admitted to the prestigious business school at South Carolina, and he has one of the top GPAs on the squad. In 12 games (all starts) this season, he has a goal and two points.
 
Aodhán O’Hara of UAB had a 3.87 GPA in psychology as a senior. Named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll last year, he is tied for the team lead in goals with two and points with four in 16 games (15 starts). Both of his goals have come from the penalty spot, one in C-USA play.
